The game states that you level up trade through making profit with goods and operating caravans. I even tried interacting with my caravan and my companion acted like a normal caravan NPC. There was no manage caravan dialogue option. When I go to my clan tab and click on the caravan, the only option I have is disband caravan. You don’t get

With so many trade caravans running rampant, it's easy for even a capable novice to rake in coin by taking advantage of the opportune economic climate - a situation which should be more closely monitored to ensure that it remains balanced and fair.
Hence no wage deductions and no income reflected. Caravans not making money is a bad design and not a bug. This leads me to conclude that caravans in 1.5.7 are still a waste of time, despite surviving much longer during the war due slower AI lords. Steward isn't necessary, since they have a fixed party size. *Where* you form the caravan matters a lot. In Aserai or Khuzait lands, they'll be chased down by fast desert or steppe bandits. If captured yes, you have to let them rejoin your party, and go start from square one, paying another 15k for another caravan, there is no way to let them resume. They need you to pay for mercs and merch to sell so you have to pony up another 15k. Caravans WILL be captured by even looters. Ignoring that caravans and workshops have always been worth it, yes, buying workshops and caravans will generate income provided you take steps to ensure their success. For caravans, this means using companions with trade and tactics skills. jr4s8N.
