From what I understand Mamoswine is often considered a "suicide lead" whose main purpose is getting rocks up and that's about it. This type of rock setter seems a little counterintuitive if your hazard removal is Defog because Mamoswine probably won't be sticking around long enough to put rocks back up late game.
Mamoswine is really good at clearing Altaria/Swablu with Icicle Crash + Earthquake, which is very valuable. Early game is very good and it might be one of the few mons that is less afraid of seeing enemy Zoroark gank their lane. Snorlax is more tank/support in the sense that he can be very low in level and still perform very well.

This is a good video on a good team. Though you may want to replace togetic as it cannot be evolved into its more powerful 3rd evolution until after the elite 4. The comments section of the video has a post about some better pokemon. Do keep in mind that you dont necessarily need to switch that pokemon out.
After crashing the competition toward the tail end of September, Mamoswine has become a meta pick in Pokémon Unite thanks to its staggeringly high damage potential. In Pokémon Unite, Mamoswine is a melee Defender that uses the Attack stat. For that, it's a good idea to refrain from using any Held Items that might boost Sp. Atk instead.
Mamoswine is almost certainly going to want Avalanche to deal with Dragons and Ground types and it being a generally good move. Then you probably want Bulldoze to help with Steels.
